Canada’s State visit to the Kingdom of Norway

The Governor General of Canada receives a warm welcome from Their Majesties in the Kingdom of Norway

Upon arrival in Oslo, April 28, on the occasion of a State visit to the Kingdom of Norway, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond were welcomed by Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway at the Royal Palace, during a ceremony with military honors. Their Excellencies spoke with Their Majesties, who will be accompanying them throughout this three-day State visit, which will end in Tromsø, the largest city north of the Arctic Circle. The Governor General also met with Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway. Among other things, they discussed the values shared by Canada and Norway. “We have a very deep relationship,” said the Governor General. “It is always good for friends to celebrate together, for our people to realise how much we have in common.”
