Call for proposals for funding for Sino-Norwegian research cooperation

Satellite_ChinaA joint call for proposals has been drawn up between the Research Council of Norway, via the NORKLIMA and MILJO2015 programmes, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for research on climate and the environment. Up to NOK 45 million is available for allocation from the Research Council, with a corresponding amount of support available from the CAS.

“This call for proposals signifies an increase in research cooperation between China and Norway,” says Thomas Hansteen, who heads the Research Council’s CHINOR programme. “We are proud to partner with the Chinese Academy of Sciences on this. The CAS and the leading universities represent the research elite of China.”

“The partnership between the Research Council and the CAS is part of a long-term strategy aimed at establishing a dialogue between the Research Council and key government agencies in China on research policy goals. It is also a follow-up of the November 2008 agreement to expand Norway’s cooperation with China on research and technology, signed in Beijing by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and by Tora Aasland of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research,” explains Mr Hansteen.
