12-year-old boy dies of swine flu in Sarpsborg

Health authorities confirmed that a 12-year-old boy from Sarpsborg has died of swine flu. It is not clear whether the boy was in one of the risk groups.

The  boy was found dead in the bathtub in his home in early November.

“The boy did not die of drowning. He was acutely ill and it has been proven that he had swine flu,” said kommuneoverlege Kjersti Gjøsund in Sarpsborg municipality to NRK.

A 59-year-old man from Trøndelag died Monday of swine flu, while he received treatment at St. Olav’s Hospital. He belonged to one of risk groups and had an underlying disease.

In all, 20 people have now died of swine flu in Norway, including a Dane who lived in Norway at the time of his death. Seventeen of the 20 who have died, were under the age of 60.

Only two of the dead have not belonged to any of the risk groups.
